Trust and privacy

Our approach is simple: collect as little as possible, keep it for as short a time as possible, and keep a person in charge of anything sensitive.

At a glance

  • No student accounts, names, emails, or birthdates
  • Student writing and scores are kept for the current semester only, then deleted automatically
  • Individual student results are visible only to the teacher or parent running the classroom, inside the product
  • No advertising, and no selling of student data
  • Anything concerning is shown to the teacher on their dashboard, and the AI never acts on it alone

What students enter

Students are never asked for personal details. They pick an alias that their teacher or parent assigned, such as Student 7, choose a subject, and write their reflections. The adult who sets up the roster can record a grade for each alias; students never enter their own.

What we keep, and for how long

  • Scores and written reflections are stored for the current semester so teachers can review them, then deleted automatically at the end of the semester.
  • Alias lists reset once a year, at the start of a new school year.
  • Teachers can download a scores-only semester summary before the reset, and can delete their account and its data at any time.
  • If a concern is flagged, the flagged writing is held until the teacher has seen it, then deleted after 3 days (urgent) or 7 days (other), and never kept longer than 30 days. A minimal log that records only that a concern was passed to the teacher is kept for 12 months and contains no student writing.

Who can see it

Individual student results are visible to the classroom's teacher or parent inside the product. Our own internal analytics show only combined, de-identified trends, and hide any group of fewer than five students.

How AI is used

Student responses are sent to a third-party AI service so it can score reflections and write follow-up questions. The AI is instructed to ask questions rather than give answers, and never to decide anything for a student. It supports your teaching; it does not replace your judgment.

How concerns are handled

Every response is automatically checked for signs that a student may need support. If something concerning appears, it is shown to the classroom teacher, who decides what to do. Students see a short, optional check-in and, if they choose, contact details for a crisis line (988 in the United States).

No automated check catches everything. This feature supports your school's own duty-of-care processes and never replaces them.

Payments

Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers.

Agreements

Read our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Teachers can also complete a classroom data-privacy agreement inside the product, and districts that need a signed agreement can contact us.

Accessibility

Our goal is to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, so the tool works for as many students and teachers as possible.

Independent review

This product is new. Independent privacy and child-safety review is part of our launch process, and we will add the details here as each review is completed.
