Research
The approach behind this tool is grounded in research on how writing develops critical thinking in adolescent learners, shaped by years of classroom teaching.
What it rests on
What students write shows how they reason, and thoughtful questioning is one of the most established ways to deepen that reasoning. The design brings those two ideas together inside a single lesson: a student writes, is questioned, and writes again.
That foundation comes from graduate-level research in this area and from teaching experience across junior high, senior high, and university classrooms.
What we keep private
We do not publish the details of how responses are scored. That method is the heart of the product, and we protect it. We are glad to discuss our approach with school and district leaders; just get in touch.
How to read the results
A growth score describes how a student's reasoning changed within one lesson. It is a signal to support your professional judgment, not a grade and not a diagnosis.
Where we are
We are an early-stage product. As teachers use it, we are gathering classroom evidence and will share what we learn. Questions about the research are welcome at admin@aict.com.au.
